Used Forklifts Versus New
At Medley, we will not put our name behind just any piece of equipment. Our certified technicians rigorously inspect every forklift to make sure the one you purchase is one you can depend on. Why choose used? There are many variables to consider when purchasing a new or used forklift such as; what weight capacity is required, how high the weight needs to be lifted, how many hours will the lift be used, and so on.. New forklifts generally have more options that can be custom tailored to your needs, but are not as affordable as used. Medley has a large inventory of preowned lifts consisting of varying brands, making it easier to find the perfect lift-truck for you and your company.ABOUT US

Just like employees in your workforce, every forklift has different abilities that allow it to perform jobs others cannot do. When deciding to purchase a new or used forklift make sure you consider every aspect of the job you will be performing such as; what is the maximum load the equipment will be required to lift, what is the maximum height it will need to reach, how many hours will the lift be used in a day, what sort of terrain will the lift be driving on, what type of fuel (unleaded gas, diesel, liquid propane, electric) best suits your needs. Electric forklifts are more expensive compared to internal combustion engines and run off of large batteries that can be expensive to replace. However, they require much less maintenance over the span of their lifetime and do not produce any toxic fumes if you are working within a closed area.- Pneumatic Tire Forklift
- Cushion Tire Forklift
- Electric Sit Down Forklift
- Narrow Aisle Reach Truck
- Electric Walkie Stacker
- Electric Order Picker
- Pallet Jacks
- Rough Terrain Forklifts
- Scissor Lifts
- Telehandlers
Electric Versus Internal Combustion
One of the most important things to consider when searching for a forklift is what type of engine/ motor will you need. Forklifts can either be run by an internal combustion engine, or a battery driven electric motor. Both come with advantages and disadvantages over the other, for example: Electric Motor- Advantages
- Lower cost of ownership
- Do not require any fuel (must be charged)
- Do not emit any toxic fumes (Eco-friendly)
- Quiet
- Great for indoor use
- Longer lifespan
- Disadvantages
- Higher upfront cost
- Limited run cycle (4-6 hours)
- Lower weight capacity (15,000 lbs)
- Must purchase battery charger
- Advantages
- Cheaper upfront cost
- Can handle weight greater than 15,000 lbs
- Can drive in rough terrain environments
- Faster and more powerful
- Disadvantages
- Higher cost of ownership due to more moving parts
- Louder than electric
- Emits toxic fumes
- Fuel costs
- Do not last as long as electric
